英语获奖演讲稿篇1
good evening ,ladies and gentlemen:
thank you very much for choosing to come in such a cold night.today my topic is about choice and process.a research shows that a man has to make 73 choices one day.with so many choices one day, people easily get so confused and afraid of making wrong choice that they hesitate and finally miss the true part of life. in my opinion, the following part is of much more importance than the choice. there is no absolute right or wrong choice but wonderful or boring life, which the process makes the difference.
life is a box of chocolate, you never know what you will get. forrest gump made no decision by and for himself but he accomplished great success with his strong will in the process. the process is not the road itself but the attitudes and feelings ,the caution, courage and persistance we have as we encounter new experience and unexpected obstacles. take myself as an example, i changed my major when i became a postgraduate. after the choice, days have been harsh for me.i cannot understand the new lessons at all. for they are closely related to mathmatics which i learned nothing about before. however wuth the belief that this is the great chance for me to experience new ideas and challenge myself,i persisted. i asked for help from every channel and reorgonized my life. gradually i could understand some parts and even found maths interesting.moreover, i learned to act instead of complaining. in retrospect, the choice left no trace in my mind but the happiness and bitterness of the past four months becomes an unforgetable experience in my life.

on march 14th, 20, professor stephen william hawking passed away. his contribution to inflationary cosmology has forever shifted our understanding of the universe. he wasn’t just a physicist for england, but for all mankind. his death marks the end of an era. he has passed the baton to a new generation of minds, to a new era. the exploration of nature waits for no man. so, are we ready to embrace the new era and new challenges?
when i was a kid, professor hawking was known to me as the author of a brief history of time. i bought a lot of science books back then, but they were really difficult to understand. whenever i stumbled, i would turn to my physics teacher for help. we would go through pages and pages of materials together, whether it was middle school stuff or feynman’s lecture from caltech, sometimes hours on end. i felt like we were tearing off the mask of nature and staring at the face of god. it was his guidance that encouraged me to study physics today. we’re living in an era in which science is embedded in people’s lives. from teachers who pass on knowledge, to construction workers who build labs; from organizations that provide funding, to scientists who conduct research, we all contribute to science in our own unique ways. we the people say we’re ready.
on october 5th, 20xx, china finally had its first nobel prize in natural science. ms. tu youyou’s work and her receiving the most prestigious science award made us proud. we’re living in an era in which china is building some of the best research projects and institutions worldwide. just a month ago, professor zhang miman won the unesco for women in science award, making her the fifth chinese recipient of this honor. a week after that, the economist referred to china as “a continent-sized rapidly growing economy with a culture of scientific inquiry”. physicist and vice president of the chinese academy of science, dr. zhang jie stated, “china now has the most accurate, sufficient and largest amount of data; china has the highest, fastest and best ability of data analysis. the chinese government will be strongly pushing for the sharing and utilization of data resources.” we as a country say we’re ready.
science is an immortal topic of mankind. we’ve come this far because we’ve learned to work together and let the ideas evolve. the dispute over the completeness of quantum mechanics, for example, was resolved in the 5th solvay conference, attended by 29 physicists from 10 different countries who have won 15 nobel prizes combined. that was almost 100 years ago. now we’re living in an era in which information is transmitted at the speed of light, in which “international cooperation” is not just a slogan anymore, especially to the scientific community. chinese academy of science now has 47 partners overseas. the international council for science now includes 122 national members, 23 scientific associates and 31 scientific unions. the facilities of the european organization for nuclear research, or cern, are available to over 600 universities and institutes around the globe. we, the world, are more than ready.
we’re all made of particles that have existed since the beginning of the universe, i’d like to believe those particles traveled through countless eras to create us, so that we, the people, china, and the world, can stand on the shoulders of giants, march into the new era with our head held high, and make people like professor hawking proud.

hello everybody! my name is chen xuanlin. it is my pleasure to be here to share my opinions of growing pains.
grow up, like a boat in my life, driving the wave surface. sometimes, be in calm, sometimes be in rough. but the boat i was growing up, not everything is going. for me, sour, sweet, bitter,ho t,everything .
now, as i grow up, are becoming adults, so in the eyes of parents, i was no longer to be a kid. sometimes, they say "you've grown up,not a children!" when i listen to this,my head will be pain.
when i was a little boy, my life is so relaxed.but now, in front of the waves are bigger, and more twists and turns the sea,i become a middle school student, that i have all gone past. i'm taller, homework more, study more subjects, have more test.when i was a boy, i am wrong no matter what happened, no one to blame me.but now,if i do something wrong,my parents will shout. the relaxe time will far away from me.i will be more busy.
study pressure always troubling me. grown up, more work gradually like hills. after school, i do not dare to play, to see their favorite book, i'm afraid i can't complete the work, i can only try very hard to make the pen in my book on wave, for example, i have to run on the way home. the course also gradually heavy. every home in the evening review, i looked at a lot of books, i really do not know to study what subject, is chinese? or math? or geography? or……
what should i do? to look life in the future.

good afternoon, dear teachers and friends!
i' m happy to make a speech here. thank you for your coming. now, the topic for my speech today is “western festivals.” i would like to talk about christmas.
christmas is originally a christian festival, as you can see from the formation of this word, “christ-mas.” the first part of the word refers to jesus christ, and the second part “mas” comes from the word “mass,” referring to a main religious ceremony in some christian churches. at first, it was celebrated for the birth of jesus christ. nowadays, although some churches still observe this festival for its religious reason, for most people, including chinese people, christmas has already become a day of secular celebrations, when people exchange greetings and gifts. however, it is still a biggest festival in the west. it is as important to the westerners as the spring festival is to the chinese people.
christmas day is on the 25th of december, and christmas eve is of course the evening of the previous day, the 24th december.
christmas holiday usually lasts for two weeks, during which most schools have a christmas break. many families put the christmas tree in their house, and hang many decorations on the tree. under the tree, they usually place many christmas presents. giving out presents and receiving presents are what kids like best about this festival.
on christmas eve, kids would put stockings at the end of their bed, wishing the santa claus would come and give them presents.
as to the tradition of giving and receiving presents in christmas, i think it has something to do with the nativity story. in the nativity story, on the birthday of baby jesus, there was a bright star shining in the east. there were three kings in the east who saw the star, and they followed the star all the way to bethlehem where the star stopped. they came to a manger where baby jesus was lying. they worshiped the little baby and gave him presents. i think this is a beautiful story. it shows a spirit of sharing and love.
i like christmas for the presents kids will receive and for its lovely story.
thank you very much!

ive score years ago, a great american, in whose symbolic shadow we stand signed the emancipation proclamation. this momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. it came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of captivity.
but one hundred years later, we must face the tragic fact that the negro is still not free. one hundred years later, the life of the negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. one hundred years later, the negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. one hundred years later, the negro is still languishing in the corners of american society and finds himself an exile in his own land. so we have come here today to dramatize an appalling condition.
in a sense we have come to our nation's capital to cash a check. when the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the constitution and the declaration of independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every american was to fall heir. this note was a promise that all men would be guaranteed the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
it is obvious today that america has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. instead of honoring this sacred obligation, america has given the negro people a bad check which has come back marked "insufficient funds." but we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. we refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. so we have come to cash this check -- a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice. we have also come to this hallowed spot to remind america of the fierce urgency of now. this is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. now is the time to open the doors of opportunity to all of god's children. now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood.
it would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment and to underestimate the determination of the negro. this sweltering summer of the negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. those who hope that the negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. there will be neither rest nor tranquility in america until the negro is granted his citizenship rights. the whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.
but there is something that i must say to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. in the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.
we must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. we must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. the marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the negro community must not lead us to distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny and their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom. we cannot walk alone.
and as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall march ahead. we cannot turn back. there are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "when will you be satisfied?" we can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. we cannot be satisfied as long as the negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. we can never be satisfied as long as a negro in mississippi cannot vote and a negro in new york believes he has nothing for which to vote. no, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.
i am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. some of you have come fresh from narrow cells. some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. you have been the veterans of creative suffering. continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive.
go back to mississippi, go back to alabama, go back to georgia, go back to louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed. let us not wallow in the valley of despair.
i say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, i still have a dream. it is a dream deeply rooted in the american dream.
i have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "we hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."
i have a dream that one day on the red hills of georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slaveowners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood.
i have a dream that one day even the state of mississippi, a desert state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
i have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
i have a dream today.
i have a dream that one day the state of alabama, whose governor's lips are presently dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, will be transformed into a situation where little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls and walk together as sisters and brothers.
i have a dream today.
i have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
this is our hope. this is the faith with which i return to the south. with this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. with this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. with this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.
this will be the day when all of god's children will be able to sing with a new meaning, "my country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee i sing. land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim's pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring."
and if america is to be a great nation this must become true. so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of new hampshire. let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of new york. let freedom ring from the heightening alleghenies of pennsylvania!
let freedom ring from the snowcapped rockies of colorado!
let freedom ring from the curvaceous peaks of california!
but not only that; let freedom ring from stone mountain of georgia!
let freedom ring from lookout mountain of tennessee!
let freedom ring from every hill and every molehill of mississippi. from every mountainside, let freedom ring.
when we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of god's children, black men and white men, jews and gentiles, protestants and catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old negro spiritual, "free at last! free at last! thank god almighty, we are free at last!"
